The Ellon Resource Centre would welcome donations of aluminium cans to support the expansion of their aluminium recycling project and collection service operated by their service users. Stranraer Recycling Group, a non-profit-making voluntary organisation, along with Portpatrick Community Council, have launched the 'UCANALUCAN' aluminium can recycling project. Profits received from the sale of the aluminium for recycling will benefit local charity Aldouran Glen village in Leswalt. The charity is committed to those with special needs and their carers. Islay - local recycling group Re-Jig raise funds by collecting alucans - they are appealing for help in collecting half a tonne of aluminium to help fund their latest project to clean up local beaches - contact David Protherough on 01496 810880 for details.
Moray Reach Out are now collecting alufoil alongside aluminium cans in local can banks. Funds raised from the sale of the aluminium will support the Group's Take a Break Project to allow people with special needs to spend time with able bodied volunteers in different surroundings. Kirkcudbright - Ronald Smith is collecting alucans on behalf of SWEAP - South West Environmental Action Project. All monies raised from his alucan collecting is donated to the charity DEBRA which is dedicated to finding a cure for the skin disease - dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa.
