When it comes to recycling at work, the Every Can Counts programme can help you make a real success of it, with special collection boxes and promotional materials to encourage everyone to take part. www.everycancounts.co.uk
Or you can use Alupro’s own collection boxes and posters, which promote recycling for the Fruit trees for Malawi programme alupro.org.uk/webshop.
Either way, all the aluminium drinks cans you collect will be helping grow trees in rural Malawi, as we use Government figures - collected at the point of UK recycling or export - to determine how many trees will be grown. So whichever collection materials you use, every aluminium can really does count ...
Recycling service providers
The key to all collection programmes is to make sure you have a recycling service to handle the collected material: these services are increasingly available across the UK, so ask your organisation’s waste services provider whether they also provide recycling services. Or contact your local authority for advice.
Cash for cans
Alternatively, see whether there’s a cash for cans centre nearby (recycling site locator). If so, and if you have someone who is prepared to deliver collected aluminium cans into the centre, you may like to set up an appeal to raise funds within your workplace (planning an appeal). This is a great way to stimulate collection and build motivation in your organisation.
