Alupro’s Trees for Africa programme ended in June 2010. However we feel the materials produced to support the programme and featured on this website still provide a valuable resource for schools, as they cover and can be linked to key topics in the curriculum.
New resources for schools are planned and we hope to have them available during the academic year 2010/11. If you would like more information, or would like to be informed when the new resources become available please contact us.
The Key Stage 2 materials have been designed as a topic linking science, geography
and citizenship.
The activities encourage children to think about how the environment affects all our lives, and introduce the issues of climate change and sustainability. Activity cards for Recycling in the UK, Lifecycles and Recycle for Africa, featuring Alupro’s Fruit Trees for Malawi programme. Full teacher’s notes, suggested lesson plan and curriculum links
Fruit Trees for Malawi poster

Three activity cards - black and white line drawings which can be photocopied for children to colour, plus teacher’s notes and curriculum links.
- Recycling in the UK: Encourages children to find out what they can recycle at home, and what the recycled materials are then used for
- Lifecycles : Shows how recycling things made from natural resources links with cycles in nature, with examples of different lifecycles
- Recycle for Africa : Introduces children to how growing fruit trees in Malawi helps nutrition, tackles deforestation, and forms the basis for new small businesses to boost the rural economy. The more we all recycle, the more fruit trees will be grown.
