99% of aluminium packaging is consumer packaging, mainly discarded in the home. And there is ample reprocessing capacity and end-markets for drinks cans, empty aerosols and foil.  The only barrier to high recycling rates is collection – developing a convenient infrastructure and higher participation rates.

Alupro is managing a number of programmes aimed at raising awareness of, and encouraging participation in, packaging recycling.  We also work closely with individual authorities and national campaigns throughout the UK, including Recycle Now and EcoSchools, to support local and national awareness-raising initiatives.

The Aerofoil campaign aims to increase collections of aerosols and foil trays by offering support to help local authorities and their collection partners expand their collections to include either or both materials. www.aerofoil.org.uk

Every Can Counts aims to develop the infrastructure for collecting the drinks cans used outside the home – at work, at college or whilst ‘on the go’.  Working with employers, councils and event organisers we provide a range of advice and support, including collection containers and promotional materials.
